Jon Urruxulegi, a member of Euskararen Jatorria, has initiated the creation of a library of world’s languages. Jon tells us:

“The initial aim of this library was to collect only linguistic material of languages that are in danger of extinction. The idea was expanded to the question: Why not also collect linguistic material of Latin and ancient Greek, even though they are “extinct” languages?

Therefore a later question arose: Why reject a collection of the same material of our language, Basque, although it is not in imminent danger of extinction yet? Once this idea was accepted, the final conclusion was to apply the same criterion to the entire universe of languages”.

The archives of linguistic funds are named Universum Philologicum Biblioteka and its e-mail is www.gramateka22.com.
